The Town of Washington operates under a Town Meeting form of government, with a First Selectman (similar to a Mayor) and two Selectmen.

Meetings

The Board of Selectmen meets every other Thursday at 5:30 PM in the Land Use Room. Additional meetings are called during budget work sessions in the spring. The public is always welcome. See the Town Calendar for possible schedule exceptions, for instance because of holidays. Also be sure to check Public & Legal Notices for possible last minute schedule changes.

The Selectmen's Office issues the following permits and licenses (see Permits and Licenses for all others):
